The EC90's design focus was to create a lightweight high-performance handlebar with unique hand positioning not attainable in aluminum. The 180-gram EC90 was the first composite handlebar to reach the market that outperformed its competitors in all three testing categories: Impact Strength, Fatigue Life, and Stiffness. The unique materials and processes utilized to form the EC90 allowed the incorporation of ergonomic features left out of traditional aluminum handlebars. In order to take full advantage of this, a design strategy was developed to discover new hand positions based on human factors research and consumer focus groups that revealed three new ergonomic hand positions along the bar without affecting the typical placement of brake/shifter levers.

The EC90 is the only carbon fiber road bar to receive the coveted Bicycling Magazine Editor’s Choice award.
