Master Plan - Mahesana - Semester 9 (Urban Design)

Mahesana is a town located 75 kms to the north of Ahmedabad,Gujarat. It is known primarily due to Dudhsagar dairy, which is the largest co-operative dairy in Asia.

The process we followed in this studio involved mainly three stages.

1. KNOWING THE CITY - Involved collecting all possible data about the city such as the demographics, history of evolution of the city, land use, infrastructure etc.

2. UNDERSTANDING THE CITY - The next stage involved focusing on certain parts of the city and working on each of them in groups of 5 persons each. Using various methods for analysis and using them as the road map, we narrowed down to the possible interventions.

3. GIVING BACK TO THE CITY - Our approach was to look into the broader aspects and work for the benefit of the entire city. Providing necessary amenities, improving the transportation and making changes to the road sections were our priorities.
