Special car for carrozeiros in Sao Paulo, Brazil - While studying a semester in Sao Paulo, Brazil, I had the opportunity to work in a very interesting project that connected the academy with an unfavored group of people that lives in the streets. These people known as "carroceiros", make a living from recycling materials that they find in the streets.
Special car for carrozeiros in Sao Paulo, Brazil. - Generally, those cars are built with materials that people find in the street and adapt them to their needs, but generally takes them a long time to build them. What we though was that there are many industries in Sao Paulo that could donate some of their wastes and then a workshop could adapt these into several cars that offered more safety to their users and also a sense of identity and dignity.

Adapted a third wheel to make it lighter for the carrozeiros to pull; also adapting a belt for them to pull also with their torso. We introduced some bags for picking materials in reduced spaces such as alleys. Finally, adapted a waterproof fabric to the structure of the car to make a provisional tent for them to sleep.
