Wanderlust is book created for my senior thesis project at Otis College of Art and Design. It is 155 15x20" hand water-colored pages. It is about the desire to escape the routine doldrums of our everyday lives. This book allows for its readers to travel vicariously through their imagination by experiencing the featured fictional stories and non-fiction travel essays.
In the song "Over the Rainbow" from the Wizard of Oz, Dorothy—like many of us, yearns to experience more of life by escaping her current location. The book aims to position the viewer as if they are "over the rainbow," floating dream-like, looking down onto ever-changing landscapes. One’s imagination can be regarded as a powerful vehicle in transporting one’s self to new places and experiences.
