19th Century Gilt Oval Mirror
This is a 19th century Neo-Classical gilt mirror with pressed composition applied decorations, Robert Adam’s style.
The frame is laminated wood with pine back.
The mirror belongs to a private collector and was in dire need of cleaning and massive restoration, including loss of main features on top of frame, lost beads on frame and loose composition parts on inner frame. Loads of tar and dust were accumulated on frame and surface.
The mirror had undergone a massive restoration process including consolidation, stabilisation, dry and wet cleaning and restoration of the missing parts.
The mirror was re-gilt and was touched and toned to match original colour.
