Mochi Pounder - For centuries, the Japanese have used a simple hammer with a long handle and "log-ish" shapped hammer head. The process of traditional mochi pounding was strenuous and required two people. My goal was to create a smaller, lighter tool designed for one person to both pound and scrape the mochi dough within the confines of their kitchen. Thus, came Pochima, a close alternative to performing traditional mochi pounding.
