Today we released a number of changes to our Designer Search and Browse that will help simplify and enhance the overall site user experience while also increasing the visibility for our Coroflot Pro members. We want to provide some details here to explain what we did and clarify some of the under-the-hood functionality so that everyone knows how the site is working and why.

The first thing you will notice is that we combined the previously separate designer search and designer browse pages into a single page that allows both browsing and searching. This eliminates some complexity in our technology and also simplifies the user experience. Now all users can browse our entire database of designers by role, while keeping access to the search tools available only to Designer Search or Coroflot Pro subscribers. We also modified the display of member tiles in results lists to increase density and standardize the UX on the desktop and mobile.

Equally important, but less visible, is that we updated the algorithm determining where people appear in results list. As always, if you log in and make changes to your profile or portfolio you will appear at the top of the results for browsing and searching. With this release we added a new way to distribute placement in search results that delivers equal exposure to all Pro members, rotating groups of portfolios throughout the results list on a timed interval. This distributes placements in results more evenly, delivering more exposure for all Pro members, even if you don't log in and update your pages frequently. You might not be aware, but all portfolios who are subscribed to Coroflot Pro get full access to search, save and contact tools. This is in addition to the preferred placement in search results and first access to contract gigs posted on our Freelance Design Hotline. At only $60 per year that is a lot of value for a reasonable cost. We look forward to continuing to improve the site and our offerings in the coming months.
