Vancouver Costco at night across from BC Place. Non-members can enjoy food from walk-up window while on a stroll or before/after Canucks hockey games.
Single pitch sloping canopy sweeps the entire city block length and provides cover for vertical cart ramp circulation to car-park below.
Cart ramp decends down to free on-site customer parking below. Static ramp system chosen over vermaport automated system due to large size of carts and the need to bottom load and top load carts. Vermaport system did not allow for bottom loading at the time of design.

Costco Vancouver Downtown - MulvannyG2

High-rise Costco

The world's first downtown Costco, developed with Concord Pacific across from BC Place (and next to SkyTrain). This project brought Costco from the suburbs to the urban forefront and the 2010 Olympic Games.
Challenges included layout around large structural columns, vertical cart circulation, and integration of big box into pedestrian urban context.
James Cheng was the architect of record for the 4 high-rise towers above podium level and all work below was a collaboration between MulvannyG2/James Cheng.
