This Floor Lamps height can be adjusted by a cable that attaches to a manual hand crank winch which runs through a pulley and attaches at the top of the upper arm. It can be adjusted to over 8 feet high and its upper arm protrudes 7 feet from the center of its base. A giant counter weight weighing approximately 85 lbs. balances the arm and relocates the center of gravity, keeping the lamp from toppling over.
