2001 SandHill Challenge Soap Box Derby Charity Race - I designed the interior "seating", rear wheel covers, and graphics for the Compaq car which took the first place trophy first place at the final race event and helped generate financial support for a local charity.
Vinyl graphic layouts - An exact duplicate of the car was built in Rhino and then graphics were projected onto the 3D surfaces and then unrolled into a 2D pattern so vinyl graphics could be cut and applied
Driver seating - The driver had to lie flat for long periods waiting for the race to start so I designed the seat padding to include a padded chin rest to support his head while waiting.
Seat Cushions - I built the under-shell from thermoformed ABS and incorporated harness attachment points that were hidden by the cushions. I cut and stitched the black denim covers over soft polyurethane foam padding.
Start of the race - Starting gate photo showing just how long the car was at 18ft.
