I pitched this packaging direction as a way to better the experience of opening the box. This is a first for Johnny's Selected Seeds. Previously, this would have just been placed with packing paper and the customer would have to dig through to retrieve the product.
This is our initial launch collection with many more attachments to come.
The value in this system lies in it's ability to quickly swap cultivation heads to better handle a variety of crops and cultivation needs. We included a simple clip so the extra heads would be readily at hand.

Connecta Gardening Tool System
I led Johnny's tools team through a design and development effort to produce a quality interchangeable tool system. It was imperative to design a robust product that was quick and easy for tool swapping. We began our process by focusing on the latching mechanism. Establishing a mechanism that was both intuitive and secure when engaged was important. Once we had our mechanism, we could explore how we might shape the product to better unify the form language of the tool head and receiver. After countless months of development, we finally arrived at a design that was intuitive and easy while simultaneously remaining strong and secure. I'm really proud of our results.
