The Pullouts - One of my favorite band names ever. And great guys to work with. They contacted me to create an album design for their debut record, "Negotiating the Pop." The illustration on the cover was inspired by actual events, as their bass player purchased ice cream from a truck and was dissatisfied with the quality of the product. Negotiations were made and an album was released. Agency: Freelance. My role: Art Direction, Design & Illustration.
Student ADDYs - The ADDYs are a national three-tired creative competition sponsored by the American Advertising Federation. I was asked by the national committee to create a series of posters promoting the Student Call for Entries. Best in Show wins $1,000, and we all know how desperate students are for money. As you can see, a thousand bucks can buy a lot of stuff. Agency: Freelance. My role: Art Direction, Design & Copywriting.
The Art of Winning - Each year, U.S. Foodservice works with us to produce marketing plans to engage its sales representatives with restauranteurs and other professionals in the foodservice industry. The theme for this particular plan was winning. To put a creative spin on things, we combined pop-art and sports to create a visually compelling piece. Agency: Inprint. My role: Art Direction & Design.
Burgers, Shakes & Fries - To promote the classic American foods that are carried by U.S. Foodservice, we created a brochure in retro-style menu fashion. Complete with groovy illustrations to drool over. Agency: Inprint. My role: Art Direction, Design & Illustration.
Holiday Card #1 - As designers, my wife and I like to solve every problem visually. These cards are the result of having families that celebrate both Jewish and Christian holidays, marking the beginning of an ongoing series of multi-ethnic letterpress greeting cards. This is the first of the series. If you really really like ‘em, you can buy them at www.bradandalina.com. Agency: Freelance. My role: Art Direction, Design & Illustration.
Holiday Card #2 - As designers, my wife and I like to solve every problem visually. These cards are the result of having families that celebrate both Jewish and Christian holidays, marking the beginning of an ongoing series of multi-ethnic letterpress greeting cards. This is the second card of the series. If you really really like ‘em, you can buy them at www.bradandalina.com. Agency: Freelance. My role: Art Direction, Design & Illustration.
Discover - U.S. Foodservice needed a marketing plan with a contemporary look, to show that it is progressive and forward thinking in its approach to the industry. The look of the piece came along naturally. Plus, it was a good chance to work in black, white and red. Love that palette! Agency: Inprint. My role: Art Direction & Design.
Food Drive - U.S. Foodservice wanted to give back to the community. The goal: work with its food suppliers to fill an entire truck with donated food items, which would then be transported and unloaded at the Feeding America Food Bank (formerly known at Second Harvest). Food. Drive. Get it? Agency: Inprint. My role: Art Direction, Design & Illustration.
Goodwill Annual '07 - It was time to show the public how much a part of the community Goodwill is, transforming itself as well as individuals' lives everywhere. It was somewhat expected to use butterflies as a metaphor for transformation, but through intricate illustration and clever photo-illustration, we tied it all together. Agency: Inprint. My role: Art Direction, Design & Illustration.
Goodwill Annual '08 - The cover of the report contains a die-cut, so that the shape of the green man is cut out of the cover, revealing the first page. We had the printer keep the cut parts that normally would have been discarded. Goodwill sold these green cutouts in their retail stores for $1 a piece to raise funds and put people to work. This raised over $14,000, paying for the production of the annual report and some. Agency: Inprint. My role: Art Direction, Design & Illustration.
Goodwill Annual '09 - Goodwill returned for the fourth year in a row to work with us in producing another award-winning annual report. This time, the concept was based around the Silver Lining. Using metallic ink and a cover paper that was literally lined with foil, a visual representation of silver linings was made loud and clear. Agency: Inprint. My role: Art Direction & Design.
12 Things - I discovered that, being a creative agency, everyone at Inprint had something weird and obscure to share about themselves. And with many of our clients based in other cities, it seemed appropriate to educate them on our oddities. Twelve things you didn't know about Inprint. Some true, some almost true. To find out what's real and what's not, you have to flip it over and read in between the lines. Agency: Inprint. My role: Art Direction, Design & Copywriting.
The Office Bug - A holiday card/manual on how to Build Your Own Office Bug using binder clips, to keep all of those "other" office bugs away. Agency: Inprint. My role: Art Direction, Design & Illustration.
Table Manners - Our trusty client, U.S. Foodservice, needed a simple and elegant thank you card for all purposes requiring gratitude. I thought this would be fitting. Agency: Inprint. My role: Art Direction & Design. Letterpress work by Roanoke Valley Printworks.
