DVD Kiosk Return Slot

Advanced Elements of Design is a graduate level Mechanical Engineering course based on concepts of design for manufacturability. Before the DVD Kiosk project, my colleagues and I were assigned a series of smaller projects aimed at teaching design techniques for machining, injection molding, and sheet metal manufacturing.
The problem statement for this project was to design a DVD Kiosk Return Slot as used in a Redbox or another DVD vending machine. We were to use elements of the three manufacturing methods previously mentioned in our own judgment of how they are best implemented. The design was limited to the housing, drive system, gate system, and firmware flow (concept of flow, not coding).
