Intro Page
Product introduction - Tiara Yachts provided our class an opportunity to help design the cockpit and rear deck of one of their upcoming new Open Series boats. Early in the process groups began to focus on specific areas and aspects of the boat. Working within the constraints of Tiara’s hull design, we began to add features that would increase user comfort, and add more useable space. My design work on the project focused primarily on seating and storage.
Early Seating Concepting - Concept sketching helped to identify opportunities and areas for improvement. This page concentrated on the lounge seat and folding seating for the yacht's rear deck.
Rear Deck Concepting - In looking at the upper to rear deck transition, we were able to find storage space and add a small prep station for fish, or a wet bar. Fold down seating makes the area more appealing as a lounge.
Lounge Seat Rendering - This rendering was used to communicate the final design of the lounge seat. Thumbnails illustrate new features like cup-holders and under-seat storage where there was none before.
Yacht Plan View - This Illustration shows the changes we made to the layout of the boat. The rear deck became slightly smaller to accommodate the new wet bar/prep station and storage areas. The front consoles also gained storage areas and power points for electronics.
