Emphasis, 2015. Emphasis is defined as an area or object within the artwork that draws attention and becomes a focal point. Subordination is defined as minimizing or toning down other compositional elements in order to bring attention to the focal point.
Size/Scale, 2015. Scale refers to the size of an object (a whole) in relationship to another object (another whole). In art the size relationship between an object and the human body is significant. In experiencing the scale of an artwork we tend to compare its size to the size of our own bodies.
Pattern/Repetition, 2015. Organization or disorganization. Placement of a recurring elements.
Movement/Rhythm, 2015. Direct the viewers attention throughout the image.
Unity, 2015. A visual feeling of harmony that results when all individual when all elements come together as a whole.
Contrast, 2015. arrangement of opposite elements in an image to create visual interest.
Balance, 2015. A falling of equal or importance throughout the parts of an image that results.
