close up - This is the patina I worked at revealing on an old door that I came across at a salvage yard. The door had layers and layers of dirt and old paint on it.
finished piece, front view - This entry table was created from an old door which I cut in half length-wise, then cut one half in half-width wise. The whole project was done with green thinking - using no toxic materials, and using minimal energy [hand sanding]. I estimated that the original door, which is solid wood, was made before WWII. The original door was quite dirty and had many layers of paint on it.
finished piece - After I spent a lot of time hand-sanding and using non-toxic cleaners to remove all of the dirt, I made the door into an entry table. I used the whole door to make the table, and I bought a piece of new glass for the shelf.
