A design based on contradictions, Rene Magritte's famous painting "The treachery of images" depicts a pipe with the caption "Ceci n'est pas une pipe" underneath it; I wanted to take this metaphor to the next level with a physical product. Something that looks like a pipe, is used like a pipe but *wait for it* is not a pipe. It is a device that aims to make people conscious of their breathing, similar to when somebody points it out to you and you can't un-notice your breathing.
This pipe was also partly inspired by american author John Green and his book : The Fault in our Stars.
In which the male protagonist puts a cigarette in his mouth but never lights it up, effectively putting the killing thing in his mouth but never giving it the power to kill him.
The ultimate goal of this product is to make people realise the importance of all the little details that make up our lives. while simultaneously giving them a way to relax and meditate. All of this, just by breathing.
