One of the challenges (and benefits!) of working at a small startup is that you have to prioritize designing core features and side projects. Our team wanted to create a blog to improve SEO and showcase teachers’ thoughts but didn’t want to utilize a 3rd party, so I had the opportunity to design a blog, built from scratch. While it is a small part of the service, it’s a pretty big project— it’s basically recreating a service such as Medium. It needed to visually convey the subject of the topic since not every article is in English, showcase the teacher to drive lesson bookings, and emphasize sharing on social networks popular around the world. I was able to successfully create a feature that seamlessly melds with the service’s existing design language while satisfying the goals of the project.
