I joined Verbling as its sole designer in February 2014. Verbling aims to teach anyone in the world to learn to speak a foreign language by learning from native-speaking, professional teachers. Currently, we offer over 30 languages and render the site in 10 languages. The product has to match students to teachers, schedule lessons across all time zones, handle international payments, notify students and teachers of important information, host the lessons on-platform, and provide tools to handle documents, vocabulary lists, and uploads, among other tasks. It's a big challenge to build an international product that requires so much proprietary technology with such a small team, but I'm extremely proud of what we accomplish.
