This is an ergonomic aid to add leverage to the riders wrist. If you have never ridden a motorcycle a 1000 miles a day you may not appreciate how it can fatigue the riders arm, resisting the carb slide spring.
The funny thing about this is that some riders like to have one on the clutch side as a purely aesthetic embellishment.
