Core Sound Hauls and Communities Map - Mapping project telling the story of fishing hauls and communities around Core Sound, North Carolina. When long hauling, fishermen will cast their nets in the deeper waters and haul in towards the shallow water near land. The icons here denote the haul locations and names while also describing the linear movements of fishing boats during a haul. A symbol set for fish houses, railways and harbors further describes fishermens reliance on these communities for their hauling operations.
