yin-yang table - This is a set of end tables that are specificly designed to complete eachother. Its all about emotional connectivity with this piece. When they are appart, thay want to be togeather. When placed togeather they become stronger and the underside of each table is visible through a glass hole on the other. It is constructed from walnut, curly maple, and ash.
Aero Windglasses - These sunglasses are designed with the safety of every runner and cylclist in mind. They reduce the drag coefficient of air going over the irregular surface of the human ear. This allows the athlete to hear oncomming traffic.
The Sunday Driver - This is the famous, why pink?....drill. Well first you have to understand the scenario I was working under. In this scenario, i'm working for a company that has no brand identity from a price point battle with other low-cost tool manufacturers. So I had to add percieved value into the line. Pink was the added bonus, it was a challenge by my professor to make a pink powertool. I did this by making an emotional connection through generations. Pink was once a cool masculine color when it was associated with 1950's vehicles like Cadillacs and Chevrolets of the time. So I translated that object language to my drill design. The pink represents that emotional connectivity between generations that i spoke of, and the gray represents inviting leather seats. The chrome speaks of the decadent trim and tail-light trimming on those period vehicles.
Kennel-Aire dogouse - This is an alias rendering of my final concept that won the Kennel-Aire doghouse competition in 2004. My concept was to incorperate a mechanical means of thermal energy management, whereby darker colors retain heat and light colors reflect heat. So essentially it is a passive-solar doghouse that is flipped once seasonally in order to maintain a safe temperature range.
