Giambattista Bodoni created a revolutionary typeface derived from, “the beautiful contrast as between light and shade.”
The goal of this poster was to provide an inviting overview of the characteristics, history, and designer of the Bodoni typeface.
The layout showcases the typeface in an unexpected way. Dramatic type treatments capture attention and draw the viewer in. Abstract letterforms serve as image, creating a fresh take on unique aspects of the classic typeface. Interplay of positive and negative space establish clear hierarchy and strengthen the message of light and dark interwoven.
The final poster demonstrates a strong understanding of typography and design principles placed in context.
