We started with a lot of quick models along with our initial sketches. Our inspiration for these models ranged from lotus leafs to romanesco broccoli.
After verifying with Reebok it would be ok to redo the Pump system for our project, we decided it would be a good direction to follow for our line. It goes back to Reebok's roots, and is a valuable technology when it comes to recovery.
We used a mainly black/gray color palette, along with pops of pale pink and pale yellow-green. We looked at colors athletes would normally buy and toned them down for recovery day. For the backpack it was important to include chest and waist straps, in order to ensure the pressure points when inflated would remain pressed against the back, and not simply push away.
The curved shape, material change, and location of the logo all tie in with the rest of the line. There are four Pump buttons, each one corresponds to a quandrant of the back. Four Pump buttons are needed because one button would not provide the volume of air to fill all of the pressure points at a reasonable rate.

Reebok Recovery Backpack

The Reebok Recovery Line was created in a sponsored studio during my sneior year. I was the head of the backpack design, while my teammates headed the apparel and shoe designs. The brief behind the project was to choose a cateogry that Reebok does not currently make products for, but would fit well with their current categories. After researching a few topics, my group chose recovery.
