Pop-Up Greeting Cards - This is the front of the "Soccer Card" with a theme built around the Roman God, Janus. The colors were chosen to reflect the decorations on ancient Roman Pottery. The Soccer theme was chosen because the original client had once participated in community soccer events. And, as with all my cards, all illustrations are original.
Soccer Card with Janus theme - When you unfold the soccer card, this is what pops-up! The Janus theme is finally revealed in both the referee figure and the decorations on the "ground" of the card. The colors still reflect the same colors found on ancient roman pottery, but now they are much lighter.
Nutcracker, First Act - All my holiday greeting cards open so the "back" or "ground" of the card stands up, allowing the card to stand with a smaller footprint. This card is themed around the first act of "The Nutcracker" when the rats and the toy soldiers go to battle. This time, the battle does not ensue, both parties exchange presents and the Nutcracker gets to host a party instead of mediating a war! In the grand "Nutcracker" tradition, the action of opening the card causes the tree to grow.
Winter Holiday Card - Originally, I made illustrations that were to be vectored like all my other cards. But the colored pencil sketches went so well with the evergreen forest theme, that I had to keep them. The two flanking evergreen trees "rest" inside the card with their tops leaning inward. As the viewer opens the card, the treetops swing outward.
Espionage Birthday Card - This is the front of a card inspired by all "Secret Agent" films...shades of "Thunderball" and "The Spy Who Loved Me" inspired the color choices.
Espionage Birthday Card - This is the inside of the Espionage Card. Having it open with the "back" standing up was the best way to continue with the comic book format from the front. Clear acrylic was used to depict the water where the shark swims. As the view opend the card, the Bad Guy's secret ocean lair splits in two, revealing the heart of the explosion.
