I led the mechanical team as manager and technical lead for this data collection vehicle that mapped all of the bay area and beyond, to Yosemite and Lake Tahoe. The technical highlights are that the vehicle had to operate on the lyft network (used and abused), had to return to OEM (no modification to the base vehicle), and it had to pass cables to the roof and meet IP69k. We design and built more than 50 units internally and deployed it. It pass crash requirements and had zero issues in the field through three years of service. I regularly saw this vehicle on the road from San Francisco to San Jose.
