The typographical concept: all the languages of Europe are divided in groups and possible fonts. Each signage/room can use four colours in different shades.

As soon as you reach the place, the typografical information is printed on a dark wall
The «History-Room» begins grey and dark due to the period of the First to the Second World War. Here the visitor receives impressions of European hopes and visions during this time with videos and quotes using the overlayed typography in transparent shades of white.
And this is how the room looks at the end
After 1950 we are changing to the second part of the HIstory-Room. Now it gets much more colourful and we're following a timeline showing the most important facts. Whenever a new country becomes part of the European Union it is highlighted on a map printed on a glasswall.
Inbetween you can get some more informations by checking out the Treaty-Tables. Those are designed like hanging register files.

Another room is called «United in Diversity». Here you get a moveable scanner which you can roll over the big green map of Europe. If you're rolling over certain points, you'll get more interesting facts about that area.
Another part of the exhibition is the Role-Play-Game. It is open for schoolclasses to learn more about the parliament and how it all works. In groups they will discuss, standing in front of the parliament or the media to get the feeling of being a member of this big institution. My part was to illustrate the situations, imitating a school's blackboard with white colour on black background.

European Parliament Visitor's Center - Brussel

Integral Ruedi Baur wurde mit der Gestaltung einer grossen
Ausstellung des Europäischen Parlamentes in Brüssel über
die Entstehung der Europäischen Union beauftragt. Der
Aufgabe beinhaltet das Orientierungssystem sowie sämtliche
Raumgrafiken und Anwendungen. Ruedi Baurs Idee war es,
alle Bürger der 23 verschiedenen Sprachräume gleichzeitig
anzusprechen und dadurch eine grosse Dichte an Kommunikation
und Vielfalt durch Textüberlagerungen zu erzielen.
Die Umsetzung dieser Idee wurde von mir in Zusammenarbeit mit
Christina Ohmann und Marlen Hähle realisiert.
