Girl Scout Cookie Packaging Redesign - This project attempted to rethink the Girl Scout Cookie Box, improving its environmental impact, re-examining its function, and revamping the aesthetics.
Current Environmental Impact - First, the entire supply chain was broken down to understand the environmental impacts. This provided insights into where improvements could be made.
Packaging concepts - Many concepts were considered, mostly focusing on package repurposing.
Final Packaging Concept - Girl Scouts have began to sell their cookies as display tables outside grocery stores, schools, and churches, rather than door to door. This packaging allows them to create elaborate displays to help them better cope with this new marketplace. The boxes are also many different shapes and sizes. This not only makes stacking impossible it also complicates the manufacturing and shipping process. With the "Universal Package", one box would be able to hold all 3 sizes of cookies.
Redesigned Package Environmental Impact - The environmental benefits of the newly designed package include: One box that fits all three sizes of cookies. An average savings of 5 square inches of cardboard per box. Materials that are both recyclable and compost-able
Final Package Design - The final design is a cleaner, graphic box with a retro feel.
Box Display Example - The girls can stack the various boxes to create gardens of their own design.
Box Display Example - The boxes become an advertisement tool in of themselves. The box fronts can be collected and fit together to create large quilts.
Screen Print Preparation - The graphics are printed on unbleached board using the screen-printing process
