I'm not a huge fan of static wireframes, having found that Devs/Stakeholders/Designers much prefer interaction models. That said, if you're going to do something - do it right! I was influenced by classic architectural blueprints and find that by referencing them directly they help to focus the client on the architecture - first, and the visual design later ... : )
