Candidate Biography - Tim's biography. He's got a solid track record of achievements for his constituents, which made some of this easy. He also has an incredibly cute niece who was happy to pose for some shots. http://www.tim-toomey.com/?page_id=205
Issues page - Public Safety - Tim also serves as a Massachusetts State Representative, and he's a former chair of the Commonwealth's Public Safety Committee. It's an issue near and dear to his heart, and something we felt warranted its own page under our Issues tab. http://www.tim-toomey.com/?page_id=200
Issues page - Environment - Tim's best-known achievements include the revitalization of East Cambridge's Kendall Square, but he's always struck a balance between economic development and protecting the city's natural beauty. http://www.tim-toomey.com/?page_id=191
Community Blog - This particular blog post came at a sensitive time---there had been a series of armed robberies in the city just as the campaign was drawing to a close, and we had to walk a fine line between getting the word out about a public meeting while not politicizing the issue. http://www.tim-toomey.com/?p=171
Community Blog - Rib Fest (1 of 2) - Tim's been helping the East Cambridge Business Association since its inception. The ECBA's annual Rib Fest highlights East Cambridge's thriving restaurant community, local businesses, and even the culinary arts program at Cambridge Rindge and Latin High School. It's slow-cooked goodness...and a great opportunity to connect with voters. http://www.tim-toomey.com/?p=166
Community Blog - Rib Fest (2 of 2) - Tim handed out the event's People's Choice Award for best ribs. http://www.tim-toomey.com/?p=166
Dog owners' postcard (direct mail) - Late in the 2011 campaign, we learned of a publicly available list of Cambridge's registered dogs, along with their owners' names and addresses. This piece went from concept to photo shoot to copy to layout to mailing in under 72 hours. The message is simple: Tim's a dog owner too, and he cares about dogs.It was an ultimately successful attempt to squeeze out a few dozen more votes in the 11th hour of a tight race.

Announcement letter (direct mail) - This is the text of another direct mail piece, our citywide announcement letter. Simple, to-the-point, and a way to present the candidate as accessible to the public at large.
Citywide trifold (direct mail) - A trifold direct mail piece, this hit tens of thousands of voters across Cambridge. It had to present the candidate as engaged, competent, and optimistic, and we needed to feature photography with a visually diverse range of constituents.

Tim Toomey for Cambridge City Council

Tim Toomey is a longtime Cambridge City Councillor. I've served as Campaign Manager for his last two City Council runs. In the 2011 election, we upgraded Tim's online presence, beefing up his social media stature and completely overhauling his website. We combined this with our traditional voter interaction, direct mail and phone banking strategies to help Tim win his 33rd election in a row.

Tim's new website seamlessly serves as both a strategic communications tool during campaign season and an easy-to-navigate community blog the rest of the time. In a cycle in which seven of nine incumbents saw their numbers drop, we not only picked up votes but also created an infrastructure to help Tim better serve his constituents.
