THE GOAL of this project was to make a motorcycle rim based on a brand specific lifestyle.
THE RESULT of this project was a 1:1 scale, 18" motorcycle rim not geared toward any particular motorcycle brand but instead a rim that would encompass all types of motorcycle riders.
IDEATION started with wild concepts and contours that were appealing yet hard to produce on a wide enough scale to justify manufacturing. Eventually, the rim became simply a trident of spokes in order to make the rim easily reproduced and most of all; safe. This simplicity draws on more than one type of motorcycle rider. Import sport bikes often have a trident spoke set-up and the Harley-Davidson aftermarket tends to lean toward more elaborate configurations. The Triple Threat rim meets both of them in the middle with a traditional chopper wheel set up and a rim that can handle incredible acceleration with limited wind deflection.
