This is my redesign of a cocktail tap for Smirnoff which is currently in thousands of outlets across the UK and Europe.
The redesign was created to bring back the purity of Smirnoff which is represented by a brushed chrome body with a satin finish. The branding, eagle and text is all back-lit in a colour which represents the flavour of the cocktail and provides maximum visibility regardless of the light level in the bar.
All the back-lit areas are created through laser sintering; the chrome plating is burnt away revealing the ABS moulding and permeating light. This process means the fonts can be changed for other cocktail variants without changing the tooling. The number of components was also reduced from three to one, simplifying the assembly of the tap.
