The Project
The Brasero is an important step of the barrel conception. There is a fire in the center of the barrel to curve the wet wooden boards and give them the necessary flavors for the creation of the wine.

BRASERO
I was finalist of a design contest organized for the inauguration of the Cité du Vin in Bordeaux, France.
The contest was to design something with the materials of the wine barrel. I decided to remix to the minimum the barrel as a respect for the objet. Also, I wanted its function with something to do with wine.
I choose the brasero step (see next photo for more detail) as an inspiration to create a barrel of wine tasting.
The fire has always been the element that brings people together. It’s also an important step in the barrel production and wine taste. It seems then to be the most significant inspiration.
A wooden board is removed and the other ones are moved to create a few millimeters gap between them. Inside the barrel, there is a lamp that imitates the fire and brings artificial fire rays. This wine tasting barrel could even brings heat for an outside use in winter and then, fully completes his evocation to the Brasero step.
