Skate Trike

Design Ability is a volunteer group in Ottawa that works on projects that attempt to solve small everyday problems for people living with physical challenges. Working with two other students and a
local ergonomist the SkateTrike was constructed as a skating aid for a child with Muscular Dystrophy. The main focus was to keep the child safe and also enable him to have the fun and enjoyment of skating as other children. At the same time material use, formal issues and the needs of the physical condition had to be addressed. The frame itself was made in the Carleton University lab by myself and
the two other students involved in this project.
