Design / Build
A team of 15 students designed and constructed a compact 3-bedroom 1200 square foot home for a family in the Polk & White neighborhood. Working with the homeowner, Habitat For Humanity, Mecklenburg County Community Development and College of Architecture faculty, we were responsible for every aspect of the design and building process, from foundation to roof to interior finishes. Our design featured a large barrel-vaulted linear volume that was the kitchen and dining area, and a wrap around porch that complemented the language of the built form in its environment.
