Details and Analysis

The Henry Matsumoto House in Raleigh was chosen for the studio’s analysis. We investigated the significance of proportion, scale, materiality, and detail in the home. The home’s proportioning module is defined in the analytique through the relationship between plan, section, and elevation. The Matsumoto House bridge detail was chosen for full scale reproduction because of the graceful way it connected “home” with “landscape.” Teamed with 3 other studio colleagues, we fabricated the bridge in full form in the college using CMU, C-Channel steel, and stock lumber.
