DBE / Design Beyond Earth

DBE / Design Beyond Earth (2010) is a joint MA thesis project concerning a multi-purpose space module adopting human-centered design principles to enhance research, tinkering and tourism in microgravity environments.
The structure is based on an entirely inflatable module, paired with a foldable skeleton, with modular equipment providing an active life support system based on deep integration of multiple life forms.
While artificial gravity modules permit the cultivation of vegetables for food and oxygen, experimental aquariums and aeroponic centrifuges offer testbeds for developing advanced extraterrestrial eco-systems.
The spherical room provides a place for resting, exercising, and an enviable view of the planet Earth.
