Releasing two albums and several singles per year might seem like a lot for some musicians, but its just business as usually for Melvins frontman King Buzzo who has spent much of the year touring to promote his solo record This Machine Kills Artists. He’s playing his new stuff mixed in with with some very unexpected Melvins choices which sounded fucking amazing on acoustic. Next month, the Melvins will release Hold It In with a lineup of Buzz and Dale along with Butthole Surfers Jeff Pinkus and Paul Leary. I caught up with Buzz when he stopped by Brooklyn where we talked mostly about baseball, but also about music (which he is also known for).
A King Buzzo acoustic record, is one of those things that when I mention it to people, they might say something like, “Who would want to hear that?” But once you hear it, it makes total sense.

This summer proves to be big business for Big Business who are now in the middle of a co-headlining tour with Torche. On top of that, it's their first tour with new guitarist Scott Martin. On top of that, they started their own label Gold Metal, and have brought along their new 12" EP Quadruple Single. And this is going to sound like cliche pandering, but fuck you. There's no better way to put it: This is some of their best material yet. The dual guitar adds a layer that fits them like a flesh tuxedo. I caught up with them last week when they hit Brooklyn. We talked about the EP, other projects, and other goofy stuff I figured no other journalist would ask. -

After a few shake-ups in recent weeks, it looks like Marvel Studios is back on track with their long-awaited Ant-Man film after fan-favorite director Edgar Wright (Shaun of the Dead, Scott Pilgrim Vs. the World) resigned from the project two weeks ago. -

Jesus Lizard are the reason people should go see live music. I have a lot of their albums. I’ve always liked them alright, but they’re not on the same level of what this band sounds like. People can argue between analog and digital. I say its all bullshit. The only pure form to listen to music is with the band ten feet in front of you. -

Film Writing - You Don't Look Hip -
I think the Oscars were the other night because I hear people talking about it. So I'm sure something won but I don't know what it is because I'm not even sure what was nominated. Except for The King's Speech because people won't shut up about it. You have to see The King's Speech. Yeah. That's how I want to spend two hours. Watching some douchebag learn how to not stutter. -
