The Mechanical Engineering Department at Northwestern University invites applications for a full time non-tenure-track position of Assistant Professor of Instruction. Under special circumstances a more senior (Associate or Full Professor) appointment may be considered dependent on qualifications. Applicants should have an earned doctoral degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field and have experimental or prototyping experience.
The ideal candidate will be able to teach a wide variety of courses including systems dynamics (mechanical and electrical systems), capstone design course sequence, manufacturing, and aerospace engineering (e.g. propulsion) courses. Students will be primarily undergraduate and graduate students in Mechanical Engineering. Candidates should exhibit a strong record in a broad range of Mechanical Engineering courses and leadership in design projects. The successful candidate will also demonstrate an ability and enthusiasm to lead student teams.
