The associate designer will be an integral part of early formulation of Page Street Kids, the children’s book list launching in Fall 2018 from Page Street Publishing, distributed by Macmillan and named by Publisher’s Weekly as one of the fastest growing companies in the business. The right candidate will learn and handle cover and interior design as well as art direction, and will work closely with the publisher, creative director, and associate children’s editors in this start up environment.
Candidates should demonstrate their passion for picture books and have a strong eye for quality illustration that matches Page Street’s vision. Must be proficient in Indesign, Photoshop and Illustrator. Relevant experience in the children’s book industry is an asset, especially in a bookstore or library setting. Comfort as a speaker in group settings as well as strong person to person communication skills are a must.
The salary is $35,000--$38,000 annually depending on experience, with yearly reviews. Advancement within the design department is possible. Benefits include 80% of healthcare policy coverage and a healthy personal time off policy. Candidates may be remote (ideally in the Eastern time zone) with possible hybrid work schedule.
Page Street Publishing Co. publishes around one hundred forty original titles a year and is distributed by Macmillan everywhere except Canada, where Manda does the sales and UTP handles the distribution.
