Summary/Objective:

The Copywriter often plays a dual role—with the ability to manage the daily copy needs of their own accounts while providing additional creative support to senior-level writers and directors. This balancing act is both a valuable asset and a key contributor to their development within the agency. The copywriter also has the responsibility of passing along the knowledge they’ve gained to their junior counterparts. In essence, this position requires a true team player. We are not looking for an editorial writer, technical writer, or someone who wants to be a writer, so please apply accordingly. A conceptual advertising portfolio is mandatory.

Responsibilities:

Take ownership of projects
Work closely with Creative Director/ACD to set direction of concepts and work
Facilitate team work sessions and check-ins on iterative progress
Oversee and review creative from project start until completion
Initiate/reciprocate close collaboration with design, UX and account teams
Manage deadlines and resolve issues before they become crises
Write clear, compelling copy for various forms of branding and advertising
Develop unique new concepts for brands, campaigns, etc.
Adhere to existing brand creative/guidelines while developing new, original creative
Work with account executives to determine client strategies, goals, budget and deadlines
Research/brainstorm names for new companies/developments/products/services and confirm availability, trademark, URLs
Help build presentations and present ideas internally and to clients
Work within deadlines, collaborate with teams to ensure deadlines are met
Revise and edit copy as needed or directed by creative director or client
Check copy for content, spelling and grammar errors and work with proofreader/editor to produce flawless results

Qualications

Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent work experience
3–6 years of agency or related experience
A highly conceptual writer who can concept big platform and campaign ideas and has the portfolio to match
Energy and passion for work to keep team informed and motivated
Ability to operate effectively in an entrepreneurial, fast-paced environment
A portfolio that demonstrates innovative and CONCEPTUAL work across different media including video
Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities
Highly organized, with excellent time and workload management
Ability to work in MS Office (Word, Excel, PPT) and Google (Docs, Sheets, Slides); knowledge of Adobe Acrobat, Hightail, Asana desirable
