Scope is looking for a Design Lead to bring their user experience and service design expertise to bear on some of the most pressing global challenges of our time.

Scope is a social impact company, founded in Helsinki, Finland, in 2008. We deliver creative solutions for social change at scale, with a focus on health and equality. We work with underrepresented people, experts and systems actors in co-designing innovative solutions that lead to real improvements in the lives of communities across the globe. Through our international team and diverse partnerships, we design and deliver projects across Asia, Africa, the Americas and Europe. Scope’s projects involve researching and co-developing contextually specific solutions as well as adaptation based scaling strategies. The outcomes of projects are often a combination of innovations for improving existing health systems, developing new service delivery models as well as supporting civic engagement and policy change. Scope’s unique model combines human-centred design, creativity, development and health expertise together with participation of national stakeholders and affected communities in the planning, research, co-design, prototyping, testing, strategy development and implementation stages. In addition to client funded work, we also carry out projects through our own social innovation fund.

ABOUT YOU
Scope is looking for an outstanding, research-driven designer to work with Scope’s team and partners in developing and defining digitally focused services and products through a deep human-centered lens.

In this role you will be uncovering and understanding Scope’s social change project’s user needs, behaviors, and motivations. You will lead teams in yielding insights that inform and guide the design and delivery of compelling services across diverse digital as well as non-digital touchpoints. You will be well versed in both defining detailed backstage systems, processes, and flows as well as frontstage user experiences. You will also be experienced in service blueprinting, customer journey mapping and co-design workshop facilitation. You will be comfortable working in cross-functional teams helping diverse stakeholder groups through facilitated co-design processes and in the development of systems-integrated design solutions.

SOME OF THE KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
This role spans across discovery to design and involves both strategic design thinking as well as design doing. Reporting to the Design Director, the Design Lead will join a committed multidisciplinary team (designers, social scientists, creative and business strategists) driven to make a difference.

The Design Lead will be defining new digital services and tools, and design and build digital concepts and service offerings that bring Scope’s services to life. The Design Lead will also participate in the design research, planning and execution part as well as leading research synthesis and ideation sessions with the goal of iterating services based on the findings. This role has some project lead responsibilities, as well as lead on managing and expanding both internal and external partner skills in user experience design, development and implementation.
