The City of Austin Communications and Public Information Office (CPIO) Digital and Creative Services Division is a team of creative professionals dedicated to the goal of improving marketing communications and digital services for the residents of Austin. The team is responsible for content and communications strategy, visual design, user interface design, website administration, and brand oversight.

The Digital Graphic Designer is responsible for creating and implementing designs for both print and digital media for a variety of City of Austin programs and initiatives. This position develops and executes design concepts based on project briefs, presents these concepts to clients, and iterates based on user needs and stakeholder input. The role requires strategic thinking and a robust understanding of branding, traditional design, digital campaigns, interface design, social and email marketing. This position will be a key player in enabling the team to take on more innovative work and evolving our digital presence.

This is a hybrid role with two days per week in office in Austin, and 3 days remote.

City of Austin

The City of Austin is a municipality of approximately 1 million people. The City owns and operates the local electrical utility (Austin Energy), water utility (Austin Water), Austin Convention Center, Palmer Events Center, Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, as well as, all of the other health, public safety, and administrative services required to operate a large city. This role is within the Communications and Public Information Office, which fosters positive relationships with local and national media, and provides timely, proactive and responsive information to media inquiries; creates opportunities for the community to engage in the decision-making processes of the City of Austin; and actively promotes City projects, programs and initiatives.
