The Industrial Designer will support the Industrial Design Team Lead to drive the design activities of Lilly’s Design Labs for drug delivery devices and systems within the Delivery, Device, and Connected Solutions (DDCS) and Digital Health (DH) departments. We are looking for a highly driven individual that will help to craft a design culture within Lilly.
Your expertise in design will play an important role in helping to shape a process that produces a design output of world class quality and consistency. The role will drive design vision in partnership with a multi-disciplinary design team and with multi-functional partners to apply human-centered design methodologies in order to provide intuitive, aesthetically purposeful, emotionally satisfying, and manufacturable products that meet the expectations of users as well as Lilly’s brand identity.

The position requires excellent organizational, design problem solving, and communication skills.
You will lead one major hardware design effort at a time, working with internal and external design resources, from early to late stages of device development.
At the same time, you will support other design activities.
You are able to demonstrate the ability to work within multi-functional teams to reach consensus, and to think creatively in a fast-paced environment.
You will provide feedback to all aspects of design, including product development strategy, concept development, design language, device interaction experience, design for manufacturability.
You partner with Business partners, Mechanical Engineers, Electric Engineers, System Engineers, Human Factors Researchers and other key functions to translate user needs into viable concepts, and to create initial device prototypes.
You advocate for user experience and establish new partnerships inside and outside of the company.
You should also ensure that
quality design solutions are delivered in the areas of devices, labeling, and packaging.

Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Design or a design related discipline
1+ years of experience in the application of design
Submission of a portfolio link is required for consideration
Estimated travel (domestic and international) is approximately 25% per year

Experience in the development of medical devices or combination products
Extensive experience with Adobe Creative Suite
Experience with CREO or SolidWorks
Demonstrated visual, written, and verbal communication skills
Ability to apply hands-on skills in brainstorming, storyboarding, concept development/evaluation, and idea refinement
Deep knowledge and experience with challenging manufacturing constraints, novel CMF applications (colors, materials, and finishes), trend forecasting, and branding
