SUMMARY
Your responsibilities include working with various clients related to projects assigned to you. These projects will vary in scope from transportation, consumer products, graphics, and mechanical mechanisms. You will be assisting in the development of concepts on existing products and product ideas to develop innovative, ergonomic, user-friendly designs that attract consumers, as well as coordinate the look and function of product.

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
As a mid-level industrial designer, your primary duties are centered on the development of compelling products for our clients. As the user advocate on behalf of our clients, you will work with the lead industrial designer to:
• Identify client needs
• Relate to your customers and key stakeholders
• Draft design briefs that establish project purpose, scope, and context
• Conduct preparatory research, ask questions, and challenge assumptions
• Conduct ethnographic, quantitative, and qualitative design research
• Illustrate and visualize data using strategic frameworks, journey maps, system maps, and other relevant methods
• Communicate design intent using storyboards and visual studies to gain team and stakeholder consensus
• Ideation and iterative concept generation to vet out multiple solutions
• Progressively refine ideas using ranking, clustering, and other internal selection methods
• Develop concepts using 2D sketches, CAD, VR, and/or physical models
• Review via phase-gate process to ensure effective coordination and communication across multiple teams
• Balance multiple projects across various stages of design
• Create CMF specifications, brand collateral, pitch decks, graphics, and UI elements
• Manage vendor and supplier costs, schedules, and functional tradeoffs relating to procurement, manufacturing, and assembly
• Maintain constant communication with project managers, engineers, software developers, and leadership to deliver exceptional results

EDUCATION and TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:
• BS or BFA degree in Industrial Design or related specialization from a four-year college or university required.

QUALIFICATIONS and REQUIREMENTS:
• MINIMUM 3-5 YEARS OF DESIGN EXPERIENCE, preferably in a consulting environment, with experience in transportation, consumer goods, or electronics
• Professional portfolio containing products and services that demonstrate a thorough understanding of design thinking principles and sound design strategy
• Experience in all pre-production phases of product development
• Ability to manage phases and projects: Independently manage time, tasks, and deliverable status. Hold timelines and budgets and stay in front of our clients
• Exceptional visual communication and presentation skills – proficient in storyboarding, rapid idea visualization, sketching, mockups, and rendering
• PROFICIENCY IN SOLIDWORKS PREFERRED. Creo or Rhinoceros, Adobe Creative Suite, + Keyshot – AR/VR design experience a plus
• ADEPT AT CAD MODELING
• Foundational visual branding and software interface design experience
• Participate in client meetings, workshops, creative sessions, and reviews
• Represent Point Innovation at tradeshows, industry events, and in-person meetings with clients
