Metaphase is seeking an Industrial Designer to support product development efforts using a user-centered approach. We are looking for:
Curious, practical-minded problem solver that’s comfortable solving ambiguous and esoteric
Ability to translate client needs, research findings, and human factors inputs into meaningful
Excellent form sensitivity and form development skills in 2D. Ability to quickly ideate and
develop ideas via thumbnail sketches. Demonstrated mastery of digital sketching/rendering
tools such as Autodesk Sketchbook or Adobe Photoshop.
Excellent 3D surfacing skills in Solidworks. Must have significant experience developing spline-
drive surface geometry.
Broad understanding of materials and processes and their limitations.
Attention to fine detail and dimensional constraints.
Experience developing storyboard/workflows/scenarios that communicate product usage.
Experience managing hours, timelines, and budgets on fixed-fee projects that involve cross
functional team members.
Natural ability to communicate complex concepts into easily understood ideas to clients
visually, verbally, and in writing.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively with other Metaphase team members.
Comfort/ability with domestic and international travel to conduct client meetings/presentations and/or research. (Travel is limited due to COVID-19 and will not resume until deemed safe.)
Experience & Skills:
Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design
Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience.
Outstanding design portfolio.
Outstanding organization, time management, written and verbal communication, and interpersonal skills.
Tablet based sketching tools (photoshop/sketchbook)
Microsoft Office Suite: PowerPoint, Word Excel
