Job Description

This position is responsible for final product design and for developing product concepts for cyclists. Works with the product development team to engage in market research, concept planning, design refinement, material selection, color/graphics, and production support.

• Brainstorms, ideates, and creates product concepts as part of the Advanced Development stage of New Product Development
• Collaborates cross-functionally to determine design requirements
• Identifies opportunities to improve the user experience
• Creates concept sketches or renderings to visually depict new product ideas
• Collaborates with product development team to ensure product designs are aligned with manufacturing capabilities and meet user requirements
• Prepares or assists in preparing user research, competitive research, industry trends, concept designs and prototypes
• Performs prototype assembly and light fabrication – support project development efforts as needed for functional prototypes, show prototypes, and other development prototypes
• Works with outside consultants where appropriate at various stages of the product development process
• Supports product testing - both technical and product field testing
• Creates and maintains SolidWorks files
• Creates and maintains Navision system tasks for the project team including creation of item cards and Navision BOMs
• Assists in the development of engineering plans and designs for a particular product or problem area in accordance with established specifications, schedules and budgets
• Assists with design, layout and detailing of engineering drawings to ensure they meet proper specs
• Supports project management and engineering with information and assists with trade shows and product prototype activities as required
• Creates and maintains design library including bike industry trends, design language boards, and user demographic personas
• Performs other duties as required or requested

• Must be proficient with Adobe Creative Suite
• Must have prior experience with SolidWorks
• Associate’s Degree in related field
• Must have good organizational skills and be highly attentive to detail
• Must be customer service oriented
• Must be proficient in Windows based computer applications such as MS Excel, Outlook, Word
• Must have good verbal and written communication skills
• Must have a passion for developing best-in-class bicycling products and accessories
• Must have model making experience and shop experience with metal components and rapid prototyping techniques

• Prior experience with Saris’ products and categories is helpful
• Thorough knowledge of bicycle assembly and familiarity with accessories helpful
• Prior experience in the cycling industry, competitive and related customers, products and technologies helpful
