Delve is seeking an experienced interaction designer to join us full-time. This position can be on-site at one of our three offices or can be a remote working arrangement within the United States. We are simply looking for the best person for this position!
The Interaction Design team at Delve designs digital products and services for a variety of software environments and platforms, including graphical user interfaces for embedded systems, desktop applications, mobile apps, and web-based applications. Our work is equally focused on incremental improvements to existing solutions and the ground up design of innovative products and services that are new to our clients or even the world.
In this role, you will be responsible for using a highly collaborative process based on human-centered design principles to iteratively design, prototype, and evaluate software user interfaces from initial concept to execution. Members of the Interaction Design team are generalists and draw from a breadth of knowledge and technical skill in interaction design, as well as information architecture, visual design, and prototyping to ensure safe, effective, intuitive, and engaging digital experiences.
We encourage applicants of color and those with diverse lived experiences to apply.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
If our priorities below are a good match, we’d love to talk with you!
Technical skills
•You know how to leverage insights about user needs to create an information architecture, identifying, structuring, and labeling UI content, functions, and features to enable intuitive navigation and clear wayfinding. You can create system maps to visualize the organizational relationship between various UI screens and states, and you can produce screen-level content inventories to communicate the envisioned information hierarchy.
•You understand established UI patterns, when to employ them appropriately, and general best practices for human-computer interaction which you leverage to design software user interfaces for a range of platforms and environments. You can create screen flows, wireframes, and prototypes at the appropriate level of fidelity to iteratively explore, evaluate, refine, and ultimately document the behavior of the UI and the larger system within which it operates.
•You demonstrate command of the fundamental principles of visual design and an understanding of typography, layout, color, and iconography, all of which you can employ to declutter the UI while applying a brand-appropriate and usable aesthetic to interface content and controls. You can be equally effective working within an established design system or creating a new one, when appropriate, to streamline detailed design and UI engineering efforts.
•You can effectively support and participate in various design research and usability evaluation activities with users designed and facilitated by research professionals to uncover user needs, evaluate emerging design ideas, and identify design improvements.
Consulting skills
•You bring the digital product design perspective and technical skillset to project teams while championing opportunities and best practices for designing safe, effective, intuitive, and engaging software user experiences.
•You are a practitioner of user-centered design who understands how user research, rapid iteration, and prototyping can be effectively applied to the design of digital products and services.
•You can work independently when given limited direction and are able to clearly communicate both visually and verbally with key internal and external project stakeholders to keep them informed of your design needs, progress, and any potential obstacles.
•You are a natural collaborator who knows when to include your project teammates and stakeholders in the design process and can effectively facilitate group activities, including in-person and remote work sessions and design reviews.
•You are a convincing presenter and engaging storyteller who is comfortable on stage in front of an audience of clients and peers, whether presenting design work or offering your expert opinion.
•You are motivated by change, and see the pandemic, social injustice, and our younger generations as meaningful opportunities to adapt how we design and collaborate, and what we deliver. Because equity, inclusion, and diversity are important to you, you have a point of view, personal or professional experience, or interest in helping make a difference.
