Job Description

The Aircraft Interior Designer is responsible for meeting with meet customers (usually the CEO or President of Fortune 500 companies) and their designers, consultants, and/or flight team to determine their interior materials and finishes requirements as well as the exterior paint design. Additionally, the Aircraft Interior Designer advises and guides them to help bring their vision to fruition within aviation guidelines. Prepare a detailed interior finishing specification, used by our completion center for the construction of the aircraft interior.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS):

Project Management:

Meet with high profile clients in our studio and showroom, completion center or customer facility to determine their Interior and exterior finish requirements, and maintain a working relationship throughout the completion of the aircraft.
Interact with customers outside designers and consultants as needed.
Prepare design documents (including a detailed interior finishing completion specification).
Interact daily with the completion center regarding projects in different stages of completion.
Interface directly with our Contracts department in order to work hand-in-hand on the completion process of the aircraft (i.e., pricing questions, coordinating with Vendors, etc.).
Extensive computer use to execute drawings, correspondence and other project documents

Maintain extensive design library of high end materials and finish products.

Varied travel throughout the world, often at short notice, to meet with customers, visit our completion center in Little Rock, attend industry trade shows and visit vendor manufacturing facilities.

Design and develop exterior paint schemes including:

Create digital color drawings for customer selection.
Produce detailed manufacturing drawings for completion center paint production shop and certification, and coordinate any issues during the painting process.
Interface with paint manufacturers and procure samples and spray outs as required.
Prepare Customer Presentations:

Select and coordinate materials and finishes for aircraft interiors (including leather, fabric, veneer, carpet, etc.)
Assemble color boards and other materials.
Create digital presentations and documents as needed for customer selection.
Coordinate between vendor and production facilities for samples and mockups.
Archive projects when completed (includes color board, CFAs, carpet sample, veneer & paint chips).
New Product Research and Continuing Education:

Attend annual NBAA Convention.
Attend Industry / Trade shows.
Visit manufacturing facilities and vendor showrooms.
Online training through LinkedIn Learning.
Collaborate with design teams in France and Little Rock for the development of new materials, applications, design trends and customer needs.
NON-PRINCIPAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES (NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS):

Maintain customer files.
Light to medium shipping (samples / boards to customers).

Requirements
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor of Arts or Associate degree in Interior Design or equivalent experience.
5 years interior design experience.
Good communication skills (verbal & written).
Intermediate PC Skills using MS Office Products.
Intermediate knowledge of Coral Draw and Auto Cad software.
ADDITIONAL DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Familiarity with aircraft completions / design
WORKING CONDITIONS:

Little Ferry NJ office, Little Rock AR facility and other travel as required.
