Working in the Restaurant Development department, the Project Designer is responsible for developing design solutions aligned with approved project goals for JOEY Restaurant Group’s new store growth. Working alongside Project Management and Construction, the Project Designer develops the design solution for concurrent projects from schematic design through construction.

Responsibilities
• Develops the design concept through the selection, detailing and documentation of finishes, furnishings and lighting, appropriate for the approved project budget and schedule
• Creates design intent for project drawing development from initial schematic floor-plan iterations to detailed and complete construction drawing submissions.
• Prepares design-related budgetary inputs relevant to the FF&E, Signage, Millwork and landscape requirements of a project alongside the Project Accountant and Project Manager.
• Presents project-specific design concept and details at specified milestones to key stakeholders, consultants, and vendors.
• Coordinates design intent with consultants of all disciplines to ensure a cohesive integration of building systems.
• Coordinate with the Project Manager to review shop drawings, submittals and RFI’s during construction phases for compliance with contract documents and compliance with design and brand standards.
• Prepares design-related documentation to accompany construction documentation including site instructions and change orders.
• Attends regular site meetings at pre-determined milestones through pre-construction, construction and post-construction phases to ensure a cohesive execution of design intent.
provides post-occupancy evaluation of inhabited space to glean lessons in durability, maintenance and general effectiveness of the design intentions.

Requirements
• Strong ability to conceptualize and create 3D environments through visual presentation of sketches, computer renderings, and material selections.
• Ability to build strong relationships internally and with consultants, contractors, and vendors.
• Strong ability to present and communicate design concepts to peers, external partners, and internal stakeholders.
• Strong understanding of development and reading and producing construction documents alongside Technologists.
• Independent and collaborative attitude in a high functioning development team with the ability to meet multiple deadlines.
• Strong understanding of the design and integration of all consultant disciplines required to construct and operate a full-service restaurant project.

This is an in-office role based in Vancouver, BC.

Education & Training
• Minimum 4-year degree in interior design or similar curriculum.
• 3+ years' experience related to Interior Design, hospitality (restaurant) project experience preferred.
• Completion of NCIDQ an asset.
• Working knowledge of building codes and accessibility codes.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, Excel, PowerPoint, Photoshop for high-level renderings and communication of design intent.
